 Megaureter and megacystis are two problems that often occur together. Megaureter is the congenital dilatation of all or a portion of the ureter without obstruction.    Megacystis means enlargement of the bladder, which may affect function in that the bladder may be slow to empty, and in some cases this may mean that intermittent catheterization is needed to
empty the bladder.  Both megaureter and megacystis are frequently associated with renal dysplasia.
