Top five causes of miscarriage
Posted on 12th April 2015
“Being a woman, I have my eyes filled with dreams of my own baby!”
Pregnancy has supreme worth in the life of every woman. Women are born as “Givers of life”. However, due to some abnormal condition, a careless attitude, or some other reasons, a woman may fail to give birth even after being pregnant. This generally occurs as a miscarriage, where the growing fetus fails to grow until birth and an abortion occurs, causing a loss of pregnancy. There are many causes leading to this risk. The top five causes that create a risk on the pregnancy are detailed below. We will also discuss chances of a second miscarriage after an abortion.
Top causes of miscarriage or risk factors:
A miscarriage usually occurs before the 20th week of pregnancy. The top causes include:
1. Caffeine as a cause of miscarriage: Drinking excess of coffee or too much caffeine during pregnancy causes a risk of abortion or leads to a miscarriage. Studies have found that a daily intake of 10 ounces of caffeine doubles the risk of a miscarriage. For preventing this, it is recommended to give up caffeine during pregnancy, either during the first three to four months or until the first 20 weeks.
2. Antidepressants as a cause of miscarriage: Abortion or child birth defects also arise with an exposure to antidepressant during the first trimester. Most SSRI drugs like Paroxetine or Venlafaxine might cause the risk of abortion. It is better to avoid such drugs during pregnancy. If required, consult your doctor for the proper dose and class of the antidepressants that might have lower chances of causing a risk of abortion.
3. Alcohol and nicotine as causes of miscarriage: Consumption of alcohol or exposure to nicotine or smoking (active or passive) during pregnancy leads to the risk of abortion. Therefore, doctors advice that to prevent the risks of miscarriage, you should avoid alcohol and smoking when pregnant.
4. Chromosomal abnormalities in baby as a pre-eminent cause of miscarriage: Most abortions are caused due to abnormalities in the baby’s chromosomes. These may be caused by chance and may not be linked to the mother’s or father’s health. Such chromosomal abnormalities restrict the embryo from developing and cause a risk of abortion during the first 20 weeks of pregnancy. Green diets and adequate dark chocolate can help prevent miscarriages or abortion.
5. Other causes of miscarriage: Various other causes that raise the risk of abortion or loss of pregnancy include serious malnutrition, hormonal disorders, diabetes, severe kidney and heart diseases, infections, and exposure to radiation. One can prevent these factors by consulting the expert healthcare provider at an early stage of pregnancy.
Risk of second miscarriage after the first abortion: Women who have had an abortion worry about the chances of risk during a subsequent pregnancy. However, most specialists explain that miscarriages occurring during the first trimester of pregnancy do not usually cause any increased risk of a second abortion. However, in case a woman has a loss of pregnancy during the second or early third trimester of her first pregnancy, she might have a greater risk of another abortion.
My advise
1... If you are pregnant you should take more care of your body and your unborn child.
2.. Avoid Tea or coffee more than one time daily
3... Most SSRI drugs like Paroxetine or Venlafaxine might cause the risk of abortion. It is better to avoid such drugs during pregnancy.
4... Consumption of alcohol or exposure to nicotine or smoking (active or passive) during pregnancy leads to the risk of abortion.
5... So avoid unhealthy habits n food to have healthy child
