It is in that moment that a mother is truly born. New dreams and hopes rise up within her for her unborn child; hopes and dreams that will later come to permeate the bosom of the entire family. “I was overjoyed when I felt new life moving inside me,” claim those who have had this unique and unrepeatable experience
During their time in the womb, babies hear, feel, and even smell their mothers, so it's not hard to believe that they're attached right from birth. But as any adoptive parent will tell you, biology is only part of the love story. Young babies bond emotionally with people who give them regular care and affection.
Some studies show that high levels of stress in pregnancy may cause certain problems during childhood, like having trouble paying attention or being afraid. It's possible that stress may also affect your baby's brain development or immune system.
As the fetus develops inside a woman's uterus, another vital structure is in place to provide a vital service to mother and child: the placenta. It is a spongy structure, filled with blood vessels that come from the mother by way of the lining of the uterus, and then connects with the baby by the umbilical cord
Often newborns will smile in their sleep. Sometimes a smile in the early weeks of life is simply a sign that your little bundle is passing gas. But starting between 6 and 8 weeks of life, babies develop a "social smile" -- an intentional gesture of warmth meant just for you. This is an important milestone.
